Social Emotional Learning

  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s own emotions and relationships—viewed at Landa as a God-given skill.

  • Why It Matters: Strong emotional intelligence boosts focus, resilience, and overall academic achievement while fostering Christ-like character.

  • Faith-Based Lens: Grounded in Proverbs 4:23, SEL is taught as part of guarding the heart and living out Christian values of empathy, kindness, and purpose.

  • Whole-Child Focus: Lessons, reflection, and mentorship help students develop self-awareness, healthy coping strategies, and a sense of belonging in God’s family.

  • School Culture: SEL is woven into daily classroom life; it’s not a separate program but a foundational component of Landa’s holistic, spiritually informed education.

ocial Emotional Guided by Purpose • Rooted in Faith • Growing in Belonging

At Landa International Christian Academy, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is not just an educational tool—it’s a transformative journey of discipleship, character-building, and self-awareness that prepares students to thrive in God’s purpose for their lives.

We utilize a faith-integrated approach inspired by the Project Wayfinder framework, which was originally developed at Stanford University to promote purpose, engagement, and social awareness. We adapt this with a biblical worldview, recognizing that true belonging, identity, and purpose are found in Christ (Ephesians 1:11, Romans 12:5).

One of the most powerful truths we teach our students is this: Belonging is not a talent you’re born with—it’s a skill you develop. In Christ, we are all invited to belong to the family of God, and we are called to extend that same sense of belonging to others. Through intentional teaching and mentoring, our students learn how to build connections, resolve conflicts, and cultivate empathy—skills essential to becoming servant leaders.

By helping students discover their God-given identity and purpose, we empower them to:

  • Understand and manage their emotions in a Christ-like way.

  • Build strong, healthy relationships based on mutual respect and love.

  • Stay engaged in learning through self-awareness and spiritual discipline.

  • Navigate challenges with confidence and resilience, rooted in faith.

SEL at Landa is woven through our daily routines, classroom instruction, chapel life, and relational culture. It’s how we help students grow not just smart, but also strong in character, secure in identity, and sensitive to the needs of others—reflecting Christ in all they do.

ADVISORY

The Advisory Program at Landa International Christian Academy is an intentional part of our vision to nurture the whole child—spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically. Rooted in our Christ-centered philosophy, the program is designed to build a strong sense of community, identity in Christ, and emotional resilience in each student.

In small groups led by a dedicated member of our faculty, students meet regularly—at least twice a week—to engage in meaningful conversations, reflections, and group activities. These sessions follow a structured, values-based curriculum aligned with our commitment to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Christian character development.

The Advisory space is designed to be safe and supportive, where students feel free to express themselves, process emotions, and grow in self-awareness and empathy—grounded in biblical truth and the love of God. Through prayer, discussion, scripture reflection, and peer encouragement, students are guided to understand their identity, manage their emotions, and walk confidently in their God-given purpose.

Our ultimate aim is to raise spiritually grounded, emotionally intelligent, and community-minded leaders who thrive in both character and competence.
